About the Role:
As a Healthcare Aide, you will be responsible for providing exceptional personal care that improves quality of life and offers peace of mind to seniors in a supportive living residence. This includes assisting with medication as outlined in each resident's individual care plan, delivering personalized care and housekeeping support upon request, and taking part in social and recreational programs designed around residents' needs, interests, preferences, and abilities. As an active member of the program team, you will play a key role in promoting the well-being of residents and providing reassurance to their families.


Compensation: $23.71 - $26.50 per hour
Shift: Casual. Availability on evenings, nights, and days required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responds to scheduled and unscheduled requests from residents for assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, and medication administration at times of the resident's choice and outlined in the Service Plan. Reports critical incidents and unusual occurrences to the General Manager or designate.
  • Follows the resident Care Plan to deliver exemplary personal care and hospitality services within the scope and philosophy of the supportive living program. Delivers medications and performs delegated tasks according to prescribed protocols and methods. Documents care and interactions with residents in accordance with the procedure.
  • Participates in the delivery of social and recreational programs such as group activities, outings, special events, and spontaneous gatherings, as requested, and identifies opportunities to promote socialization. Takes initiative to assist with unscheduled social and recreational activities wherever possible (card games, movies, gardening, etc.).
  • Attends to requests for resident companionship to reduce or prevent social isolation or to respond to changes in resident health and functional status. Reports changes in functional capacity, mood, or health status per established reporting procedures. Participates in resident service planning as needed.
  • Responds to emergency calls from residents during shifts and uses written procedures, common sense, and good judgment to guide actions and mitigate risk or resident discomfort.
  • Performs administrative tasks that support program administration.
  • Participates in any changes in the care plan and Quality Improvement.
Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Certifications 
  • Health Care Aide certificate from an accredited institution and/or completion of in-service training if and when available.
  • Current First Aid certification is required.
  • Medication Assistance Program (MAP) training is required.
  • 3 years of practical work experience are preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Experience:
  • Displays a solid understanding of the Vibrant Advantage philosophy when planning and delivering personal care.
  • Comfortable working alone or in a team environment, and in the absence of prescribed work routines
  • Self-directed approach to plan, organize, and deliver care and services with minimal supervision.
